Making Weight Loss Easier: A Simple Method to Control Cravings

One of the biggest challenges to weight loss is controlling food cravings. Giving in to a food craving can ruin a whole week of disciplined healthy eating and put that pound or two right back on.
Trying to control this type of urge can pose quite a challenge to your weight loss goal.
The best way I have found to eliminate food cravings on the spot is Meridian Tapping Therapy, or EFT. Meridian therapy is basically a cross-breeding of hypnotherapy with acupuncture. A relatively new energy healing technique, EFT is beginning to gain acceptance by the more traditional healthcare community. EFT is easy to learn and can help break the food addiction cycle. If you want to break your chocolate or ice cream habit, then EFT is for you. The technique can be self-applied with minimal training. It simply involves tapping on a series of points on your upper body (acupuncture points) while holding in mind your problem food craving.
To try it out, have some of your favorite problem food at hand —chips, donut, ice cream — whatever you crave. Now get in touch with your craving. For example, let’s say you have a ‘fatal attraction’ for chocolate. OK, and take the chocolate out of its wrapper. Go ahead and smell it.
Next, mentally rate your craving on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being very strong craving and 1 being very little. (If you are dealing with a problem food craving the rating should be at least a 5. ) This number rating will help you to assess where you are in the craving reduction process and how many repetitions are needed to complete it. Now begin the tapping procedure.
With the three middle fingers of one hand, tap on the outside edge of the palm of your opposite hand. (This is called the “karate chop point”, the contact part of the hand used when performing a karate chop. While tapping on the karate chop point, say to yourself, “Even though I have this ________(in this case, “chocolate”) craving I deeply and completely accept myself.” (This is called the “set-up.”)
The next part is to tap 7-9 times on each of the EFT points of the remaining sequence while repeating the reminder phrase.
1)Begin tapping on the beginning of the eyebrow (closest to the nose) and repeat, “This _______ (chocolate) craving”.
2) Tap the outer of the eye bone socket , repeat “This______ (chocolate) craving”.
3) Tap under the eye, repeat “This______ (chocolate) craving”.
4) Tap on the area below the nose above the upper lip, repeat “This______ (chocolate) craving”.
5) Tap on the chin below the lower lip, repeat “This______ (chocolate) craving”.
6) Tap where the collar bones meet at the to of the breastbone, repeat “This______ (chocolate) craving”.
7) Tap at the bottom of the armpit, repeat “This______ (chocolate) craving”.
8)Tap at the top of the head, repeat “This______ (chocolate)
craving”.
Now check in with yourself to re-assess. How strong is your craving now? It should be slightly less. If you are still tempted, go through and repeat the tapping sequence again until you no longer desire the food. You may need to repeat this process over a period of time to break your addiction to that problem food until the craving becomes manageable.
If you have the will power to use this tapping method for each and every undesirable food craving, you will find it much easier to limit your food intake and gain healthy eating habits.
